觀之國內廠商由於成本考量不願負擔初期基礎建設的風險，學術界對於物件導向的觀念雖然很重視，但是由於市場考量及學生學習程式設計的意願低落，也未能適時培養具有前瞻性的程式設計及系統開發人力。長久以往我國的軟體業決無法突破瓶頸以達世界水準。在未來軟體工業若無法擠身世界水準加上硬體業全球化的趨勢，我國資訊工業勢必落入第三世界之林。
對於我國軟體工業前景的憂心，我們願意盡我們一己之力，初期提供我們的研究成果，拋轉引玉也希望有志於軟體設計的諸賢共襄盛舉。目前我們的一些成果是提供研究的文件整理及翻譯，不外是希望從基本概念的建立為基礎逐次開發具有前瞻性的雛形而能真正應用在實務上。

作者很小的時候就愛好編程，真正想把它變成自己的終身職業是高中的時候，想著這輩子最有意義的事情大概就是坐在電腦前編程了。
作者大學過的很快，但是漸漸明白了，編程不是優優有著一股熱情就能做好的，中間需要付出很多的汗水，象其他事物一樣，付出多少收穫多少，儘管有許多天才的存在，但是我們又有多少人看到天才的汗水呢？！
工作後，編程轉變為軟件開發，成為一種商業活動，有著嚴格的規范和步驟，當編程真的變成了作者的職業後，也知道了什麼是真正的辛苦，為了能這樣工作，只有不斷的學習，不管什麼技術，只要項目用的到就需要學習，作者先花時間來專研某種技術，從這個意義上說，編程已經不在是愛好了，成為了作者賺錢的工具。

Boost C++ Libraries 英

The Boost web site provides free peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries. The emphasis is on libraries which work well with the C++ Standard Library. One goal is to establish "existing practice" and provide reference implementations so that the Boost libraries are suitable for eventual standardization. Some of the libraries have already been proposed for inclusion in the C++ Standards Committee's upcoming C++ Standard Library Technical Report.
Although Boost was begun by members of the C++ Standards Committee Library Working Group, membership has expanded to include nearly two thousand members of the C++ community at large.

Object Data Management Group 英

The ODMG group completed its work on object data management standards in 2001 and was disbanded. The final release of the ODMG standard can be found here, including the overall data model, and the Smalltalk and C++ bindings for ODMG. The ODMG Java binding has been superceded by Java Data Objects (JDO).
